Stained Glass Art
For nine centuries, stained glass has illuminated the world of decorative arts with its brilliance and drama. Liane Luini continues the tradition with her imaginative interplay of color, texture, and light.
As a stained glass artist, Liane is reclaiming a family heritage that traces to the Renaissance. From her ancestor, Bernardino Luini, a fresco painter and student of Leonardo da Vinci, to her grandfather, Costanzo Luini, a bronze sculptor, the Luini name has long been associated with artistic innovation.
Before launching her craft of stained glass, Liane lived her creativity through many roles—as a teacher, musician and desktop publishing specialist. Those same qualities that have seasoned her professional life have readily enhanced her art. Sensitivity—Comfort with detail—A heightened sense of harmony.
For 15 years, she taught elementary school vocal music. A coloratura soprano, she has performed widely through the Washington, D.C. area. Liane now has her own desktop publishing/virtual assistance business helping other entrepreneurs to succeed.
Says Liane, “It’s tempting to disappear into my studio and spend all my time cutting glass. That’s how much I love it. Yet I realize the day-to-day world keeps me in touch and gives my art grounding.
